Criminal Fauna Identification
Put your wits to the test and find out the culprit behind the crime!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Made for the EPIC-WE Cultural Game Jam, where the thematic was the Lagoon here at Óbidos, this game was made with the obejctive o offering, through some ridiculous designs and laidback aesthetics, a way to teach or promote interest in the lagoon's fauna and other dynamics within this ecossystem.
You'll be playing as a detective trying to criminally profile birds from different species, all native to the Óbidos Lagoon itself.
You'll have to search through documentations and connect habits, characteristics and other traits in other to uncover the culprit.
After you have decided who to blame, PRESS THE BIG RED BUTTON and give that naughty bird their well deserved punishment!
Have fun messing with these suspicious birds and remember to leave some feedback if you so wish!

Saw this game at LGW and was already expecting a good time(sorry VI look alike, i lied and didnt download it on the day U_U). Pretty cool game with very nice and fun visuals (wish there were more birds ;O;), music that fits pretty well with the tone and clever writing. Overall a very nice concept and well executed. Gotta agree that it's hard to figure out without the previous knowlegde of which bird is related to what, this coming from someone that likes to nature watch (look, plants are pretty cool too) but i believe that within the region the birds are well known and easilly identified (and stopped for once!!) by the local population.
Congrats on the game, and have a very nice day! :D
Thank You!!! We are glad you enjoyed our game, if you want go check out our other game haha :)
P.S.: I am sorry you had to meet the pink hair guy
Neat game! Unfortunately, I found that many cases are reliant on blind guessing since the profiles do not point to the culprit very well. Some cases are reliant on you already knowing about the animal in question (in fairness, everyone knows about the Flamingo) which means it's impossible to solve the case using the in-game information, which is the entire point, isn't it? Like, I can guess one case on personality, but then there are others (like the shiny object) where I'm still baffled as to how I was supposed to figure that out.
Ultimately, though, I don't know how well you could communicate with people outside the team to avoid the common pitfall of thinking a puzzle works not realizing it's because you already know the solution. Someone outside of the team should've tried each puzzle to see if it was possible to connect the dots without that prior knowledge.
Heyyy, thanks for the feedback!
We do know no every case is the most solvable unfortunately haha, we made this game for a game jam about the Obidos Lagoon (and it's fauna, therefore the birds) so we comprehend that for outsiders things might not be that obvious, we also didn't have much time to refine the cases and files so there's also that! But we really appreciate your input, and ty for playing the game :)
That's totally fair! My criticism was focused around one of your stated goals based around introducing and teaching players about the birds in the lagoon, so I would feel that the player should be rewarded for learning by having it be solvable. I love animals and learning all about them so that's the angle I'm looking at this from.
